You can't ask for a much better couple than Melinda and Keith. Beautiful, fun-loving, and oh-so-in-love! They are so much fun to be around, I think we laughed for most of the day. It always makes me really happy when the parents of the bride and groom are almost as happy as the bride and groom themselves. Their support makes such a difference in the day - and Melinda and Keith's families were beaming all day long!

The bright colors in Melinda's bouquet looked so stunning against the grey sky.

Lindsey joined me to help shoot this day, and I love this shot she got of Melinda's vows. She and Keith memorized their vows, but just to be sure they wouldn't be too nervous and forget (I know I would be!) they printed out these great little cards and laminated them for reference during the ceremony.

Melinda's mom walked her halfway down the aisle and then Keith met her at the halfway point and took her the rest of the way. I thought this was a particularly sweet detail in their day.

Lindsey had a great spot up front, and was able to get these great shots of our beautiful couple just taking in the whole thing.

The Catholic ceremony at St. Therese in Wrightsville Beach was beautiful.

I love the interaction between Melinda and Keith here. You can just see how much they love each other.

Beaming!

After the ceremony, Melinda and Keith had scheduled in about an hour of time for family portraits and shots of just the two of them. It was so great to have so much time!

Love the light in this shot, and the pop of color from Melinda's bouquet!

Keith told me he is a surfer - and the water was FULL of surfers that day - so I couldn't resist getting a few of them in the background of this shot.

Told you they were beautiful!

The reception was over at Autumn Hall, which was beautifully set up by Courtney Arnold of Stellar Events. The food was amazing and absolutely beautiful!

These amazing little cakes were by Nicki's Cakes - gorgeous and delicious!

My favorite thing about the location at Autumn Hall is the humongous fireplace at the edge of the clearing. All of the gorgeous florals were by Wendy of A Beautiful Event. They were stunning!

A few toasts, and lots of laughs...

Doesn't Melinda have an amazing smile?

And lots of dancing...

Melinda and Keith, thanks for the honor of being a part of your day. You're amazing couple, and we wish you the happiest of holidays as you celebrate them together! Congratulations!

I will never forget Whitney and Blake (and both of their families for that matter) for their southern hospitality. I had such a great time during their engagement shoot and bridal session in Greenville North Carolina, so needless to say I was so excited for their wedding. We traveled to Atlantic Beach North Carolina for this beautiful beach side wedding, held at the Ocean Club. When Amanda and I arrived, the girls were getting ready in the spa area.

The difference of expression on Whitney's face in the next two images are priceless. This first one says "nervous anticipation"...

...but after seeing her dad, the nerves melted away.

Small side note: I adore Whitney's bold choice of nail color! Deep purple = amazing!

The ceremony was held behind the reception hall in a tent. Some of my favorite details were these lines of flowers hanging down behind the altar.

Near the end of the ceremony, when it was time to exchange the vows, Blake surprised Whitney with an extra wedding band. He had told her she would have to wait for their five year anniversary for him to buy it, but there it was in his hand. For a moment, she looked shocked and then said, "You lied!". Needless to say, everyone in the tent cracked up! Those little imperfect moments of the day are what makes the wedding day so perfect.

After a quick session with the family and bridal party, we took a walk to the sound side of the island. It was minutes before sunset and the light was absolutely gorgeous. And so was Whitney. :)

I was so excited to have Amanda second shooting for me on this one! It's rare for us to get to shoot together, but she always kills it. What a great way to end my wedding season for the year! Thanks Amanda!

Amanda and I both tackled the details. I love the color scheme here. Classic!

Although the reception venue was huge, the dance floor was intimate. I love when the crowd gathers around for the special dances. It makes it so much more special!

At the very end of the night, I decided to try something I had never done before. This technique is called "painting with light". Whitney and Blake were so great to trust us on this! No one but our amazing clients would stand in the dark and look fierce for 30 seconds while we dance around them with a flashlight. haha I think it turned out pretty fantastic, though!

Whitney and Blake, you are amazing! I had the best time working with you. Have a wonderful holiday season - your first as a married couple! Woohoo!

Every once in a while you meet people who you feel like you've known your entire life. Even if you've only chatted for an hour, you connected in a way that instantly binds you as friends... that's the Stainback's! When I first met this friendly family I was on assignment for Bald Head Island photographing their entire family for a story in Haven. That weekend I went to the beach with them, had dinner, told scary stories in the dark and laughed until my belly hurt. It was then that I knew we would have a lasting friendship.

On my occasional journey's over to Bald Head I would run into the Stainback's who happened to be there the same weekend as me on several occasions. I learned that Sarah Anne & Justin (both whom I met on our first photo shoot) were engaged. I was soooooo excited when I heard they were planning on me shooting the wedding. I looked forward to this day for months and it proved to be a beautiful classic Bald Head Island wedding that did not disappoint!

I started out the day at the spa where Sarah Anne was getting her hair done...

then I headed to meet Brent at the ferry (he was shooting with me while Amanda was helping Rachel out at Atlantic Beach). When we arrived at the Bald Head Island Club we were lucky enough to find the Dessert Diva's putting the finishing touches on the cake. Look at how much fun they are having!

Then I dropped Brent off to hang out with the guys and I headed back over to meet the girls...

Sarah Anne's Dad, Mike, was so emotional... this is his reaction to seeing her for the first time and trying to hold back the tears. He was crying so much he had me crying!

The gorgeous Mrs. Stainback...

CUTE!

I love the shot Brent grabbed of their walk down the aisle as well as Justin's reaction while I headed up to the balcony for fun shots!

The light pouring into this shot adds so much magic to the moment...

We also lucked out on amazing light outside paired with a perfectly times schedule which allowed us to catch sunset on the beach!

The sunset was AHHHHH-mazing!

Fun little story. Apparently someone forgot the rings and left them at one of the homes. So Justin used his Dad's wedding band which was a hair to big... However, by the time we got to the reception someone had retrieved the "official ring" so Sarah Anne slipped it on and the reception began!

Brent worked on a surprise slideshow while I covered the reception! The tent at Bald Head Island Club serves as an amazing venue...

You don't even want to know how many tries it took for Brent and me to get this shot.

The night didn't end with their exit. Sarah Anne & Justin were headed back over to the mainland to catch an early morning flight for their honeymoon so we opted to use this time for a few more shots... Brent and I held the light for each other until we got booted from the top deck for using it.

After getting booted from the top deck, we opted for another creative shot using the bottom level of the ferry! It was really funny because they could not hear me while I was directing them for this shot. Brent is lying underneath them for this shot, providing us with light, and helping me direct them via the iphone because my screaming wasn't working!

Sarah Anne & Justin - what a wonderful day which I was blessed to be a part of. I hope I get to see the two of you again soon. Until then, have an amazing married life and a Merry Christmas!

Nicole and Danny are two of the most fun-loving people I've ever met! They live in Miami Florida, but regularly vacation in Wilmington, North Carolina. When they decided to tie the knot, Wilmington seemed to be the perfect choice for their not-so-traditional Jewish wedding. This gorgeous couple has amazing and quirky taste. A short wedding dress, green patent leather Valentino shoes, a tandem bicycle, and the groom's navy blue velvet suit jacket are just a few of the amazing details you'll see in this super stylish day! One other detail of note is that their wedding was held on Halloween! Nicole and Danny's first date was on Halloween. They went to a costume party together, Nicole dressed as a ballerina and Danny dressed as The Hulk. During their rehearsal dinner the day before, they switched roles. Danny dressed as the ballerina and Nicole was The Hulk. So fun!!!

We met at the Surf Club in Wilmington for a few pre-ceremony pictures. I ADORE it when couples see each other before the ceremony. It makes things run so smoothly and the bride and groom are able to enjoy each other's company more on their big day.

Working with Courtney Arnold from Stellar Events was fun as always as she coordinated this event!

Candice Lanning assisted me for this wedding and was a HUGE help! I love this image she captured of Nicole and Danny on their bike. They are seriously the cutest couple ever!

Moments before the ceremony, Nicole and Danny read and signed the Ketubah together in front of their friends and family.

Quite possibly one of my all-time favorite getaway vehicles. BIG props to Nicole for sporting her heels while pedaling!

I am in love with this little bicycle!

It was really important to Nicole and Danny that we capture pictures of just the two of them. This is always my favorite time of the wedding day.

I really love Nicole's smile here!

I asked if they had any special requests for pictures and to my surprise, they mentioned that their favorite image from their engagement shoot was of them jumping. After hearing that, I knew we had to replicate it! Thank you Nicole and Danny, for being so amazing and fun to work with!

PS I adore Nicole's "something blue" bloomers. :)

Salt Harbor once again shut the house down with their gorgeous florals. Paired with Courtney Arnold's beautiful reception tables, it was really a show stopper!

The father daughter dance was a spicy Latin remix. The crowd went wild!

Nicki's Cakes are phenomenal. Beautiful. Yummy in my tummy. I have never seen a cake like this, but it really reminds me of Nicole's petty coat.

One of the first things Nicole ever told me was that she LOVED candy. She brought some to their engagement shoot for a ring shot and they had an entire candy bar for the reception. This is a serious sweets addiction! Candice and I were snacking on these yummy treats all through the reception.

One of my favorite Jewish traditions...

A few hours in to the party, the guests were surprised with a basket of Halloween accessories along with some that snuck out of the Truth Booth. The dance floor was already hopping, but the costumes put it over the top!

:)

Nicole and Danny, you are amazing! Candice and I enjoyed every minute of your wedding day. Congratulations!

12.08.09 ~ Weddings ~ posted by Brent & Amanda

As many of you know, Brent and I lived in Savannah, GA for quite some time while Brent finished his degree in Graphic Design. While living there, we both met many incredible people and made relationships that will last a lifetime. We love any reason that brings us back to that charming little town and all of those in it.

One particular weekend that brought us to Savannah was for Courtney and Joe's wedding (two individuals we have known for quite some time). Courtney and Joe have a wonderful relationship and it is awesome to see the passion they have for one another. I was excited to see both of them on the wedding day and the little, personal touches they added to it.

Brent and I split early in the day to go be with Joe and Courtney (separate of course). It was a little bit of a challenge because both of them were getting ready at the church, just a few floors apart. We played phone tag to make sure we didn't run into each other while shooting before the ceremony.

I absolutely adored Courtney's dress and she radiated in it! The beading, cording and lace overlay in her gown was exquisite and made her shine far brighter than everyone else that day. Her veil was beautiful too and it included a personal and special touch. One of the buttons in the cluster was actually her grandmothers.

Courtney's smile never left her face the entire day. And why should it?

Love!

This is one of the sweetest gifts ever given. When Courtney was younger, she was in her Sunday school class one day when they talked about saving your heart for that one special person. They even passed out hearts to everyone in the class to one day give away to the person they were waiting for. Courtney took that lesson to heart and she waited to give it away to Joe. Enclosed in the frame is a letter to Joe and a representation of Courtney's heart, the same one she was given in Sunday school many years ago. Absolutely amazing.

Courtney gets ready to head upstairs to meet Joe at the altar. Love the staircase!

Love this shot of the church! The organ looks so dramatic!

It's a done deal!

By the time we started shooting Courtney and Joe alone, it was really dark outside. We were up for the challenge and I love how it turned out. The shots are so romantic!

Just one of my favorites!

I loved the details from this fall-vintage wedding! Such warm and yummy colors!

I like how you can see all the detailing in Courtney's dress. I think Joe is pretty happy too!

The father/daughter dance was a little different...but in a wonderful way! When Courtney was a little girl, her and her Dad were a part of a father/daughter dance. During the "YMCA" her Dad's contact fell out and they were unable to finish the dance. Years later, they decided to give it another try. This time was...perfect!

The reception took place at the SCAD River Club (a venue owned by the Savannah College of Art and Design, a.k.a SCAD). Inside the building was an old elevator that no longer functions but was wonderful the photograph!

Before the night ended Brent and I took Courtney and Joe over to this amazing chandelier of light bulbs in the Club. It was amazing and made me want a lightbulb chandelier of my own!

I love the grain in this shot. It reminds me of an old film.

Thanks again to Courtney and Joe. We wish you the best and hope to see you again soon!
