Hi there! Welcome to the Millie Holloman Photography blog. Our company has just one name, but we’re an entire team of crazy, creative, passionate, professional photographers. We’re based all over North Carolina (Wilmington, Raleigh, & Charlotte), but we work all over the world. What do we shoot? In one word: Love. Wedding Love. Baby Love. Family Love. Love of details. Love of design. Love of nature. And this blog? Well, it showcases the images, the people, and the stuff we want to share, both professionally and personally. So what are you waiting for? Come on in and look around.

We want you to get the most out of your time here, so here are a few helpful tips: Check out the text block above that says: “photographers”. Use it to get to know just one photographer better by sorting just their images, twitter updates or bio. Wondering who shot what? Look for the signature on the bottom left of each photograph. Looking for something specific? Type the topic or a keyword into the search bar above for related results.

another contest...

04.17.08 ~ Life ~ posted by Millie

It is time for another personal project from Millie! I am constantly looking for ways to give back through photography and also looking for ways to reignite my passion and to inspire me! I am not by any means on a creative down right now, I am actually feeling rather inspired but I am also thinking it is time for another charitable photography project to keep my fire lit!

Below you will read about some of my past projects... keep reading to find out what type of project I am looking to do now and how you or someone you know can enter to win the free session or session(s)!

Sine late last year, I been following Dana through her struggle with Aplastic Anemia, a story still in the works but Dana was doing well last time I checked! We are trying to get together for a family session to show how awesome she is doing so you will be seeing here again before too long!

Last year I also ran a competition for a grandfather and granddaughter session. I attended a memorial service for my grandfather and his brothers last year to honor his time served in the military. It was there I realized how much I missed that relationship in my life. Having never met him I wondered what it might be like to have hung out with him for the day. I wanted to photograph the relationship between children who had a awesome connecting with their grandfather so I took entries and we had two winners!

Mikayla & Den Den won my heart when I read their story. I headed to Raleigh for their session and their photo day offered lots of excitement for me. I had the opportunity to photograph horses and a day at the barn. I actually still need to get back over there and go for a horseback ride Kim!

Emma & Grandad have a super fun relationship and I was able to capture them in their element... ice cream, games, playtime, bubbles and hugs! I

All of the above projects were awesome and I have learned a lot through them. How to appreciate life more fully and what a blessing the people in your life are to you!

My next project is one I have been wanting to do for some time now. I want to photograph the life of a child battling a terminally ill disease, such as cancer. I don't want to capture the diseases, but their spirit and strength. I want to create lasting memories of the good times they share with their family and friends.

I also want to photograph " a day in the life" session with a child who has a disability and once again document their strength and spirit to triumph through the obstacles they face!

I believe that work like this is hard to do but it makes me stronger, it forced me to connect, and it helps me to put life into perspective so I am up for the struggle.

This means I am looking entries for two contests:

1. a child battling a terminal disesase such as cancer
2. "a day in the life" session for a child with a disability

We will be taking entries until May 10th, then we will vote on a winner and announce it here on the blog. Here is what you need to do to enter the contest:

1. email millie@millieholloman.com with a story of why someone deserves to win a session or sessions .
2. include a photograph with your submission.
3. be sure to include information on the child's illness / disability so that we know which project you are applying for.
4. get the entry in by May 10th or you will not be eligible to win!

Please spread the word about this contest, you can even submit for your friends and family. I really want to find just the right family to bless. You don't have to be local, we can work out the details, just send in the submission. I can't wait to read all of your stories!
