Hi there! Welcome to the Millie Holloman Photography blog. Our company has just one name, but we’re an entire team of crazy, creative, passionate, professional photographers. We’re based all over North Carolina (Wilmington, Raleigh, & Charlotte), but we work all over the world. What do we shoot? In one word: Love. Wedding Love. Baby Love. Family Love. Love of details. Love of design. Love of nature. And this blog? Well, it showcases the images, the people, and the stuff we want to share, both professionally and personally. So what are you waiting for? Come on in and look around.

We want you to get the most out of your time here, so here are a few helpful tips: Check out the text block above that says: “photographers”. Use it to get to know just one photographer better by sorting just their images, twitter updates or bio. Wondering who shot what? Look for the signature on the bottom left of each photograph. Looking for something specific? Type the topic or a keyword into the search bar above for related results.

Wanna send us some love? There is no better way than leaving comments! We can't wait to hear from you so scroll down and see what's new…

megan . bridals v2.0

08.11.08 ~ Weddings ~ posted by Millie

You have already gotten one sneak peak of Megan's bridal session at The Murray House, but I just finished up her final edits and I am excited to share a few more so here is a peak!

You will notice the amazing birdcage veil by Joanne Miranda of Joanne Miranda Designs. Joanne is constantly creating stunning birdcage veils custom made for each bride. Just shoot Joanne an email if you are interested in having her create a birdcage veil or custom jewelry for your big day!

Joanne's work is sold at A Carolina Wedding, 17 S 2nd Street, Downtown Wilmington or you can reach her directly by phone at 910-619-7681 or call her at A Carolina Wedding, 910-762-3312.

I had the opportunity to interview Joanne for this blog post so that I could share a little about her business with you as well as the process of creating each piece. Enjoy!

If someone is interested in working with you how should they contact you and what is the process? I am still working hard on my website right now so the best way to reach me is by phone or email. I work with brides either to design their custom headpiece, or their bridal party jewelry. To get started we set up a consultation and take their ideas, then go from there. Now for out of town brides, thank goodness for the Internet!

How long have you been in business? I have been in business making jewelry for about 9 years. After selling wedding gowns for several years here in Wilmington, I saw a need for more fashion forward accessories. Also many brides wanted coordinating their bridal party jewelry and this was also not available. I started working Tonya and A Carolina Wedding about 1.5 years ago.

Do you work ONLY with local brides? No. I will work with brides all over, I just finished working with a bride from NY!

How long does it take for you to create a custom piece? I like to take my time on my pieces, maybe a couple days. Sometimes I work a little on it and put it down, then I admire it for a while, then I go back to tweak it!

What inspires you? My inspiration... where do I begin?! Beautiful wedding gowns like the dresses at A Carolina Wedding (that I'm surrounded by all of the time). I am addicted to bridal and fashion magazines too. But mostly all the brides I work with, they have a vision and I work hard to create it for them! Sometimes I watch an old movie or two that will inspire...

Any advice for future brides? "Daydream" about how you want to look going down that aisle, don't worry if it is a little out of the box, go for it! It is your special day and HAVE FUN with your style!

Now back to Megan's bridals! The Murray House has this incredible staircase which I noticed the second I stepped foot in the door!

I can not wait to shoot Megan & John Tyler's wedding this coming September. Megan has been teasing me with amazing details all year long so I will be excited to see it all come together. Stay tuned for wedding images over the next several months!
